WHY WE STARTED CONNECT1:
San Ramon resident Raymond Quan recently tried to purchase a new cellular phone, but was frustrated to encounter the same scenario in store after store: salespeople could not explain the differences between products and services, they often grunted or ignore him when he walked in the door and those that did approach him, tried to sell him something he did not want. In response to this lack of product knowledge, impersonal service, and aggressive sales tactics, Quan decided to open his own business. “From the moment you enter my store, I treat you like a guest in my home. I listen to your needs, show you my recommendations, then fade into the background, to allow you to try out the displays and make your own decision.”
 
Quan’s goal is to provide a comfortable environment for customers to test drive all of the latest products and technology before purchase. “I know how hard it is to shop when my two kids are with me, so I designed my store to feature a children’s entertainment area so parents can browse without interruptions. I am happy to give a brief tutorial on how to take full advantage of all the bells and whistles of our products, to explain the differences between plans and answer any of your other questions as well.”
 
Connect 1 focuses on bringing schools, small businesses and community organizations together through its joint marketing and sales events.
